State Accountant: Assurance Services ( 2 posts ) – Western Cape Gov

Job Purpose      

The Department of Economic Development and Tourism, Western Cape Government has an employment opportunity for two competent individuals to provide assurance on compliance and financial information. These posts are stationed in Cape Town, CBD.


Minimum Requirements             

An appropriate 3-year tertiary qualification (National Diploma/B-Degree or higher qualification); A minimum of 1 year experience in a financial accounting environment.



Tertiary qualification in Internal Auditing or Accounting.


Key Performance Areas

Ensure proper governance; Develop policies, procedures and processes pertaining to the internal control unit; Render assurance services; Evaluate the effectiveness of financial prescripts (inspections); Provide fraud and losses management services; Ensure the implementation and maintenance of an integrated loss control system.



Knowledge in the following: National Treasury Regulations; Provincial Treasury Instructions); Accounting standards; Communication (written and verbal) skills; Proven computer literacy (MS Office); Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
