Sappi Global Business Services requires a Procurement Specialist to support the Senior Procurement Manager oversee day to day operations of the purchasing department by ensuring cost effective, timeous and excellent quality in the purchasing of goods and services according to the Procurement Policies and Procedures. This position will also drive the development of detailed business requirements and coordinate the analysis, development, testing and deployment of business process and IT system improvements within Procurement.

The main responsibilities of this job are:

Compliance

  • Comply to all SHEQ policies, procedures, best practices and work instructions.
  • Comply to ISO 9001 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Standards), ISO 50001 (Energy Management System) and OHSAS 18001 (Health and Safety Management System) for procurement in the mill / forests.
  • Effectively communicate new regulations and procedures as and when required to contractors.
  • Provide Procurement Business Systems and Process Support.
  • Provide input into any Regional Procurement/GBS procedures and practices.
  • Perform “SAP Super user” support role to the hub and mills.
  • Provide assistance and training for suppliers with regard to system-to-system interface (Ariba, Fiori App).
  • Assist procurement stakeholders with technical input in business case development. (SAP vs Metamorphosis) assist BPE  with testing.

Contract Management 

  • Monitor, evaluate and feedback on vendor performance in relation to the service level agreements (SLA’s) or quality, delivery and environment.
  • Adjudication of enquiries based on value or risk profile.
  • Oversee the contract lifecycle management process.
  • Manage a centralized Contract Management System for Procurement in SSA.
  • Coordinate continuous improvement of contract management and assure quality and standards for all SAP MM framework contracts and respective fixed source list allocations regarding central and local agreements.
  • Verification of order confirmations.

Master Data Management

  • Manage and coordinate the maintenance of Vendor and Material Master Data.
  • Coordinate continuous improvement of Master Data quality.

Tactical sourcing 

  • Implement tactical procurement sourcing strategies for goods. Co-ordinate and manage the multi-disciplinary teams, across departments and assist in change management process where necessary.
  • Foster stakeholder relationships with vendors and internal customers to achieve operational business objectives.
  • Liaise with mill technical stakeholders to exploit standardization and substitutes opportunities. Implement opportunities for standardisation of procurement commodities.
  • Advise critical supply chain risks and implement alternative plans by proactive assessment of the incoming materials, services or equipment, thus allowing timeous resolution of identified risks.
  • Introduce cost saving initiatives.

Reporting 

  • Manage the creation of pilot, complex business analyses in line with customer needs and support the Procurement staff in the development of reports.
  • Introduce new capabilities, processes and methodologies through market intelligence.
  • Identify and report any risks in the supply chain to the Senior Procurement Manager.
  • Provide information for the Procurement management reports.
  • Discuss any opportunities or risks with the Senior Procurement Manager and the regional procurement team.
  • Expediting reports bi-monthly.

Promote enterprise and supplier development (ESD)

  • Work with the regional team on the execution of new ESD initiatives for the mill by driving the local stakeholder engagement and overseeing the local implementation.
  • Implement the bid process for mill specific ESD projects in consultation with the regional ESD team.

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Relevant Degree or Diploma / NQF level 6-7.
  • A minimum of 5-8 years Procurement experience in an Industrial Procurement or Materials Management environment.
  • Experience in the technical and/or manufacturing environment would be beneficial.
  • SAP MM experience preferred.
