The appointee should:

  • Be in possession of NQF 4 (National Senior Certificate or Grade 12 or National Senior Certificate for Adults)
  • Have a valid Blasting Certificate
  • Have a valid Mine Overseer Certificate
  • Have at least 5 years’ experience as a production Supervisor (Graduates minimum of 2 years)
  • Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk based medical examination at the relevant Sibanye Stillwater Occupational Health Centre

Advantageous requirements:

  • NQF 6 (Diploma or Advance Certificate) in Mining Engineering or NQF 7 (Degree) in Mining Engineering would be advantageous

Key responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the management of risk within own field of expertise
  • Assess Mining risk and incorporate mitigating controls
  • Maintain and update the Mining component of risk register
  • Manage the Mining Section teams, systems and processes
  • Analyse, interpret Mining data, reports, and take corrective actions as required
  • Provide effective problem-solving support to the Mining teams
  • Participate in the daily Mining meeting
  • Plan and manage Mining resources (personnel, equipment and materials) as required
  • Maintain and update the Shaft schedule
  • Design and plan underground layouts
  • Check Shift Communication Logbook for any problems reported and special instructions the need to be addresses
  • Determine material allocations based on the BOM
  • Verify materials, consumables and explosive orders
  • Monitor Seismic Activity Report and communicate to the Mining teams
  • Verify that the Gas Testing procedure has been complied with
  • Verify statutory and daily examinations record
  • Asses poor quality support installations and take corrective actions
  • Manage the installation od secondary support, assess poor quality support installations and take corrective actions
  • Manage Tramming team and activities and plan tramming activities and targets
  • Mange Secondary Blasting team and processes
  • Manage underground maintenance activities
  • Initiate blasts and authorise re-entry to blasted section after observing the prescribed re-entry period
  • Plan the location of winches
  • Identify underground operations improvements opportunities
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and externally at all levels and cross-functionally
  • Managing the finances of the Division to achieve organisational objectives
  • Setting and approving budgeting parameters for the division in line with business requirements and financial objectives
  • Align to international responsible mining principles
  • Maintain and comply with SHE standards within the work environment
  • Comply with requirements of the Quality Management system
