Land Use Technician: Land Use Management-Job opportunity Stellenbosch

Job Purpose The Department of Agriculture, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to support the manager of the sub-programme: Land Use Management and/or rezoning of agricultural land to contribute towards the compilation of sustainable development plans. This post is based in Elsenburg, Stellenbosch.
Minimum Requirements An appropriate 3-year tertiary qualification (National Diploma/B-Degree or higher qualification) in Natural Resource Management, Environmental Management, Agriculture or Civil Engineering; A minimum of 3 years post qualification experience of Natural Resources Management principles; A valid (Code B or higher) driving licence.
Recommendation Working knowledge of the agricultural sector, natural resource management, crop production systems, water and irrigation and social physical properties; Management skills in human resources, financial and project management; Experience in MS Office, CAD, ArcView/GIS programs.
Key Performance Areas Provide support to the land use manager; Assess and provide comments on applications for land use management; Facilitate the representation of the department and the sub-programme; Facilitate and coordinate the development and revision of a strategic plan, policies and guidelines for agricultural land use in the Western Cape Province as well as liaison with external service providers and clients.
Competencies Knowledge of the following: Theory, design and implementation of environmental resource management plans; Legal compliance NEMA, CARA, SALA, NWA; Technical/scientific report writing; Skills needed: Written and verbal communication; Proven computer literacy; Planning and organising; Problem solving and analysis; Personnel and conflict managemet; Personal attributes: Self-motivated; Committed; Ability to work under pressure and under adverse field conditions.
Remuneration R 331 188 per annum (Salary level 8)
