The appointee should:

  • Have NQF 4 (National Senior Certificate or Grade 12 or National Senior Certificate for Adults)
  • Have at least 1years’ experience within a security Control Room in a mining environment.
  • Have a valid PSIRA Grade C certificate.
  • Have a valid firearm competency.
  • Be computer literate in (MS Office package).
  • Have sound knowledge of Control Room operation in all its aspects.
  • Have knowledge of the various systems monitored in a Control Room, e.g. CCTV surveillance, alarm systems, X-Ray Viewing Systems, Access Control Systems, intercom systems, radio and telephone systems.
  • Have ability to utilise the systems available in a Control Room environment to detect incidents of risk and breach of procedures and policies.
  • Have ability to effectively guide response teams to incidents and updating them with information regarding incidents in progress to improve their safety and chances of effecting arrests.
  • Have strong observation skills with the aim of being able to identify irregularities and breaches.
  • Have an understanding of camera technology.
  • Have knowledge of mining and production processes.
  • Have ability to operate under pressure.
  • Have attention to detail and precision.
  • Be able to maintain a high standard of professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
  • Have a clear security screening record.
  • Have a valid driver’s license.
  • Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the relevant Sibanye Stillwater Occupational Health Centre.

Key responsibilities:

  • Tasked / focussed observation of “Hot-Spot” areas that are prone to attacks by criminals and high-risk processes with the aim of detecting irregularities, breach of policies and procedures and criminal activity.
  • Detecting irregularities, breach of policies and procedures and criminal activities.
  • Random / routine observation of the entire respective operational area, with the aim of detecting irregularities,
    breach of policies and procedures and criminal activity.
  • Dispatching of reaction team members to incidents
  • Reviewing of historically recorded CCTV Surveillance footage related to incidents that have occurred.
  • Alarm and intrusion detection system event handling.
  • Investigative observation of cameras related to alarms and events triggered by the available systems.
  • Dispatching of response teams to irregularities, alarms and events.
  • X-Ray System viewing.
  • Monitor adherence to procedures and standards and report all deviations to Supervisor.
  • Report any faulty systems to Supervisor.
  • Write statements on incidents or events detected.
  • Monitor internal panic alarms and respond as per alarm handling procedure.
  • Control and administer operator consoles through adequate positioning of cameras and systems on the available monitors.
  • Conduct electronic access control through remote control of gates and locks.
  • Complete incident reports and follow up.
  • Complete shift reports.
  • Complete and update security logs.
  • Focus on safety and health as well as operational excellence
